Hello again! Today I’m going to share my version of an old headboard turned foyer bench.
This queen sized headboard was purchased from an auction for $20. I knew it would become a bench as soon as I saw it.
I already had salvage legs in my stash of wood. I measured and cut them to the size I needed. Then I built a frame for the legs to attach to and for bench seat to sit on.
I don’t normally build furniture in my sun room, but the floor in the garage is NOT level.
Sometime you need to use blue tape when you don’t have enough vise grips. 😉
I used my Kreg drill to attach the pieces of wood for the seat. This bench is going in my foyer, so I made the seat a little bit narrower than a regular seat.
Back out to the garage for paint and stain. The stain color is Provincial by MinWax. I added a strip of molding to the back of the seat to fill in a gap. You can see it better in the picture below. The back legs of the headboard had holes for a bed frame. I covered them up with big tacks that I had. The holes could have also been plugged up with wood pegs or even spackle.
Here it is in the foyer. Add a couple of pillows and done. 🙂
